NTHU Computer Science
Founded in 1977, the Department of Computer Science, National Tsing-Hua University, established the undergraduate degree program in 1990 and then became one of the most popular choices of department to thousands of senior high school graduates. The beautiful campus with hills and lakes is what we are proud of and it is the best environment for your study and researches.

At present there are about 40 professors in our department and the courses were scheduled based on extensive experiences of our graduate program for the past decade. Especially emphasizing on the flexibility of courses and the project experiment, we arranged complete basic theory for the freshmen and sophomores, and applied courses for professionals of diverse fields for the juniors to develop their chosen interests. We focus on project experience especially for the seniors to make them join the professors' ongoing research and cultivate professional experts that can handle the research and development in Computer Science.

For the outstanding students who aim at advanced research we provide various channels to enter the graduate programs and then further their study and research in Computer Science.

Our teachers are giving their best on promoting higher-level of teaching and more comprehensive pedagogical pursuit. On average one of our teachers would be awarded the Outstanding Teaching Award every year. Our teaching is also highly recognized by the Ministry of Education. During the evaluation of all EE and CS related departments across the country in 1993, we were uniquely identified as the only department for expansion so that more students could be benefited.

Facilities
The abundant hardware and software equipment of our department is another area that we are proud of. Our new department building was constructed in 1993 and the interior space was designed for best efficiency. It has a foremost lecturem hall where hundreds of lectures, seminars and colloquium are held annually. There are appropriable reference room and study hall offering different informational magazines, periodicals, books and a comfortable environment for students to study. In addition, the humane open space of common room provides the students a place to rest and contact after class.

There are over 150 high-performance workstations provided for the teachers and students of our department only, in addition to more than 250 PCs and various computational devices. These equipments were connected to FDSI internet by optical-fiber network, so it is convenient for students to connect to internet in their dorms. Students can also access the wireless network anywhere with mobile devices in the department building, or in the Computer Science department laboratories and classrooms in the General Buildings.

Activities
In an atmosphere focuses on the development of individuality and responsible free-will in our department, not only do the students have outstanding performance in academics, but also are victorious in many competitions, both academic and sports. The BBS system set up by the Student Association is also a large web site with hundreds of visitors online simultaneously.

The Fon-Chau Party Night held in the end of each year is the time when all teachers and students have fun and joy together.

In the past Collegiate Programming Contests for many years, we have performed magnificently, and scored highest to be the representative of the universal ACM Programming Contest in the United States.

The field of Computer Science is so limitless, vast and expansive that it is involved in both what you can see and what you cannot see in your life. The age of computer is coming and the future is waiting for you.
